Hello Stuvyesant Speech and Debate families,
This past month, Stuy S&D has had a fantastic February!
As we gear up for March, our first major tournament is the NYCFL Grand National Qualifier that we host at Stuyvesant on Saturday, March 7. We invite the entire NYCFL circuit to our school, so the team needs to show up and display warm hospitality.

Meanwhile, Speech and Congress traveled to Philadelphia while Debaters spoke online at the University of Pennsylvania Liberty Bell Classic (2/6-8). Through dedicated practice, the team had many finalists, runners-up, and champions. Most importantly, this weekend showed our camaraderie and team spirit, only successful due to the constant support of Ms. Sheinman, coach Sasan, Mr. Hannon, the administration and parents.
The following weekend, the team debated at the Harvard Invitational (2/13-16) facing the largest national circuit tournament of the year. We showed our strength against unfamiliar competition, placing in many elimination rounds. Cambridge gave our team an extended weekend of great food, strong rounds, and helpful ballots. We appreciate all alumni judges for coming along and for Ms. Protass's enduring support.
Debaters also attended the online Westchester Classic (2/28-3/1). With many champions and finalists, the team gained more half qualifications to the State Championship and ballots under their belt. Facing national competition, the debaters flourished.
