Dear Speech & Debate families,

Stuyvesant Speech and Debate recently traveled to compete at The Ridge Debates (12/12-14), an incredible showing of our team spirit and perseverance. At Basking Ridge, debaters competed against strong East Coast competition both in-person and online. Our Winter trip was filled with great rounds and ballots, with some upperclassmen coming to judge. This trip couldn't have happened without parents, our teacher chaperones Mr. Hannon and Mr. Wang, and our coaches Sasan and Ms. Sheinman.
Students then debated in the Christmas Chlassic at Regis and Loyola High School (12/20). Over 85 students competed against teams from across the city in the end-of-the-year extravaganza with the help of parents, coaches, and 10 student judges. Our team embodied the holiday spirit, cheering on our teammates and encouraging our younger debaters. That Saturday was full of many State half-qualifications, exceptional speeches, and laughs.
Policy Debate sparred at the Online Debate League 4 (12/20). PFers are excited to start researching China's extraction of natural resources, and LD finished out their last speeches on rewilding. Congress spoke on bills and legislation about social media, Amazon deforestation, and the Sudanese humanitarian crisis. Meanwhile, Speech has been practicing hard with our coaches to prepare well for the new year, especially Chaminade Invitational (1/10).
Throughout Winter, the team is appreciative for the dedication of all teammates and the work from Ms. Sheinman, the Stuyvesant administration, and our coaches. As we enter into the New Year, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations to help us travel, compete, and grow together this year.
